Hymn of meditation: PH 269
Zion has secure foundation,
Upon the Rock is Zion’s city.
A city built upon the Lord.
There is no fear in that City,
A City filled with joy and gladness,
When this world ends with nothing left.
The Lord protects Zion,
He is its refuge too,
And its fortress,
All now shall see the power of God,
His people He defends always.

Brethren in the vineyard of the Most High God, now the term Prophet has become a ‘common title’ in Christiandom and the society at large. People simply name themselves ‘Prophet’ or ‘Prophetess’. This has made the intention of God doubted by the same people we prophesy to. This is because such people are misled by the ‘Prophets’.

Beloved, who then is a Prophet?
A prophet is anyone who speaks the mind of God to God’s people. He is therefore trustworthy of speaking about the future. He tells the truth of God about things yet to happen. He says exactly what God tells him to say.

Rev. 1:18-19
“I am the Living one; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. Write, therefore, what you have seen, what is now and what will take place later”

My dear ones, if we have seen who a Prophet is, then what does it mean to be ordained?

To be ordained is to be appointed, established or set aside for the purpose of God’s own use. This may be a man or a woman mainly for God’s service

Jeremiah as a Prophet
God knew the Prophet Jeremiah before he was formed in his mother’s womb. He set him aside for His own purpose. He was appointed by God to be a spokesman to the nations.

Jeremiah became terrified upon realizing his status as an ordained Prophet of God. He thought he was too young for that ‘big job’ from God.

The Purpose of God
See, today, I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant”

Jeremiah was instructed to perform these uncomfortable tasks because the moral lifestyle of Israel was growing from bad to worse. They were no more in tune with God:

  • They worshipped foreign gods
  • They fornicated
  • They committed adultery
  • Gossiping was high, etc. etc.

Now, it is our generation and what do we see in the church and society today?

If we do not change our way of living, God would command His angels to uproot and destroy us and put NEW and OBEDIENT people in our places. Beloved, fear the Lord when He says certain things.

  • Is He going to uproot us when we have finished with our good works on this earth?
  • Do you have any idea of where He is going to throw you?
  • Trust the Lord for He would do it to you if you do not change.

The apostle Paul defines real love in 1 Corinthians 13:1-13.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put childish ways behind me. Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Paul made it clear that LOVE is more important than all the spiritual gifts we see in the church.

If we have all the faith to the extent of offering our bodies as sacrifice and do all the great miracles in this world but do not have love, then we must be joking.

Do not be confused. We all have different kinds gifts for God’s work in diverse ways. It is only love that would make our works useful.

How can you exercise your gift on somebody you do not love or care for?

Remember, the Ten Commandments is summed up in love for God and love for one another”.

If you claim to be ordained to lead a group or perform any function, then show love to all.

You may not see yourself as a prophet but God gave everyone a gift or talent; are you using yours or giving excuses? Are you afraid to perform?

Change your mindset about spiritual gifts.

  • Helping the needy may be your gift.
  • Perhaps, your gift may be comforting the worried and confused.
  • Teaching in the house of the Lord may be yours.
  • Reconciling your peers or friends can also be your gift.
  • Do you clean the chapel? Do it well.
  • Are you a group leader? That is your calling so sit up and do not discriminate; God Himself would empower you to lead excellently.
  • Remember, God knew you before you started doing whatever you are doing now. Do not be frustrated!

God has a plan for everyone so remain focused.

Samson’s calling was different from that of David; in the same way, John the Baptist’s calling was different from that of Paul. But all were to the glory of God.

Luke 4:22 says:

“All who were there spoke well of him and were amazed by the gracious words that fell from his lips. “How can this be? They asked, “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?”

The people had an unnecessary issue. My dear friends, the fact that you know someone’s background should not affect your judgement of his/her good intents or actions.

Think about the truth he/she is telling you and not about the past story? If they did it to Jesus, be prepared to also experience it. If they refused to listen to Jesus whom they had known for good 30 years, then do not complain if the y do it to you.

Woe unto you who are rejecting the truth from God. Change your attitude towards the things of the Lord.

Yes, you need to test the spirits but be diligent in doing so. Do not limit the power of God for in it you would receive your breakthrough.

Men and women of God are there to help you but be wise.

There are many fake prophets and are working because of their stomach. You have been ordained by the Lord to pray and put your faith to action.
