Scripture: Micah 4:1-5
Memory Verse: Micah 4:4

In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established (vs 1)

Q: What is the mountain being referred to in verse 1?
(i) The mountain is a figurative image of a place to meet God

Q: With reference to the characteristics of a mountain what do we learn?
(i) Firstly a mountain is something very visible even from afar. It commands great awe

(ii) Secondly, it is permanent; we cannot move it.
The mountain of God’s temple can not be put down by the systems of this world; “it shall be exalted above the hills”

(iii) Thirdly, we know a mountain is high.
Climbing into God’s presence in prayer, worship and the searching of Scripture sets you higher

Q: What does verse 2 mean to you?
(i) The mountain is one to be climbed.*
This means going up into God’s presence and maintaining your ‘climb’ needs effort; there are many things that will discourage you and try bring you down; laziness, procrastination, peer pressure, sin…

One needs to throw away these weights and climb

Q: According to verse 2b, what will happen on the mountain of the Lord?
(i) He will teach us His ways
The Lord sent the Holy Spirit to teach us His Word (John 16:13)

(ii) There is a willingness to walk in His paths
God’s people not only want to hear God speak His Word but they desire to obey Him…
Our love for God is evidenced by our obedience to Him (John 14:15, 21 & 23)

(iii) The law of the Lord will go out from Zion
After we have enjoyed His presence and received His teaching we must send His word out… evangelism

Q: From verses 3 & 4, what were the outcomes mentioned?
(i) Disputes were settled
(ii) Weapons were laid down
(iii) Peace and security were enjoyed

The Spirit moves to establish God’s peace in a chaotic society. If our communities are to receive peace and enjoy security, then we must be a people who:
1. Seek His presence
2. Allow Him to teach us His ways
3. Walk in His paths
4. Evangelize

Prayer:
Lord help us to be a church that thirsts after your presence, desires and walks by your Word and sends forth your Word to this chaotic world, that we may have peace and security…In Jesus’ name
AMEN!
